I had intended on starting my travel posts with inspiration from Cyprus, where my trip began, then sharing more inspiration in order of the journey I have taken… But it’s a beautiful day here in Greece, a country I have completely fallen in love with, so I decided this was the best place to start…
When I arrived on the island of Ithaca it was after midnight. It was hot, humid and pitch dark outside. I had sat on the back of the ferry and watched the Greek flag dance in the wind the whole way from Kefalonia (the island next door) where I had left my travel buddies, Nicoletta and Pano, listening to Mumford & Sons. When I finally got to my friends house in the North part of Ithaca I was completely shattered… I think I was actually asleep before my head hit the pillow.
I spent 5 weeks on the island and as my time there unfolded, I learnt and understood more about myself, relaxing, living in the moment and just being happy then I ever thought I would.
One of the most beautiful things about travelling has been the making of new and interesting friends. It was with some of these fantastic people that I went to Fiscardo, on the island next door, for lunch one day – as you apparently do!
Fiscardo is a little village on Kefalonia. It’s picturesque sea front had me mesmerised from the moment I arrived with it’s colourful buildings and beautiful creepers. There are a multitude of interesting stores selling everything from curios to selfie-sticks, and should you want lunch, you are spoilt for choice with restaurants, all with a gorgeous view – obviously!
So today I would like to share this little gem of a place with you and hopefully inspire you to visit Greece!
